ROBERT BURNS Trestleboard, November 2006

This past month we held a take your wife to dinner night at Azteca restaurant in Lynwood which was enjoyed by about 22 people.  The foods and fellowship was great.

The November stated meeting started with a light meal before the meeting.  The speakers for the evening were WB Robert Benish, past master of Fredericksburg VA., speaking on the history of his lodge and Bro. Matt Powers from Genesis 305, who gave a presentation on the formative stages of their effort to build a new South County Masonic building.  This proposal would include the partnership of Richmond/Haller Lake, Yancey Blalock and Robert Burns.  There were many questions after the presentation and much more information will be forth coming.

October 22nd saw the concordant bodies of the Everett Masonic Center meet to pack and ship 388 pounds of personal items destined for the troops of the 463rd MP Co., Camp Taji, Baghdad, Iraq.  Items such as beef jerky, disposable cameras, candy of every type, baby wipes, razors and personal care items were all donated.  A special thank you for donations goes to the local community who saw an article in the Everett Herald, to the Everett Aqua Sox baseball team for donating 7 cases of packaged sports Jelly Bellies and to the Valley of Everett Scottish Rite for providing $600.00 worth of phone cards.   It is hoped the packages will arrive by Christmas and in some small way show our support and appreciation for the tremendous sacrifice our troops are making on our behalf.

My Brothers another Masonic year has come and gone and it is time once again to say the usual good-byes and celebrate the new officers elected and appointed to govern your lodge for the coming year.  I want to thank you, the members of Robert Burns Lodge, for your vote of confidence in granting me the opportunity serve as master this past year. A special thank you to the officers of the lodge for their support and involvement this year and hope that in some small way I have had a positive impact on the future of the lodge.

Although some items on my agenda for the year were unfulfilled, others have been completed.  Thanks, mainly to the efforts of Bro. Matthew Appel, we have a lodge web site, robertburns243.org, which has many items of Masonic education and current happenings.  Mailing rosters have been scoured and updated.  Many names have been added to the e-mail list allowing us to reduce the cost of postage and to disseminate material in a timelier manner.  Although we have not yet established a Bikes for Books program, there has been some discussion and action on the topic.  Other community involvement included lodge support for the CHIPS (Child Identification and Protection) program at the Evergreen State Fair and contributions to all three shipments of personal items for our troops in Iraq.

In parting, I would like to quote a section of the Charge to the Lodge used at the installation of officers, as this Fraternity has been formed and perfected in so much unanimity and concord, in which we greatly rejoice, so may it long continue.  May you long enjoy every satisfaction and delight which disinterested friendship can afford.  May kindliness and brotherly affection distinguish your conduct as men and Masons.  Thank you my Brethren.

There is a lot of exciting things going on in Masonry today.

We all know life keeps us all quite busy.

I just dont want anyone to forget there Mother Lodge, there Masonic Roots.

I would like to challenge all members that have not been active in Lodge, to show up at least a few times a year and let everyone know you are still in support. Youre still alive.

If you need someone to ride with just let me know.

Would you like to be involved with our visitations? budget?, building a new facility?, degree work?, support of the younger Masons?, or would you like to just show up, give your support and enjoy the fellowship. I would just like to see you.

We have new prospective Masons in the wings. I will ask you to promote the craft and bring that new energy to the Lodge. Its time to add these new members and grow.

We have a degree team just itching to perform.

Please come to our first stated on the 5th of December. We have a lot to discuss.

I hope to see everyone on the 2nd of December at 2pm for our installation.

There will be hors doeuvres and beverages served afterwards.

As the Grand Master says, Walk the Talk

Fraternally,

John Sutton

Brethren;

This year has gone by so fast.  It has been a honor to serve has Junior Warden and I am looking forward to the next year as Senior Warden.  I want to again thank all of the members of Robert Burns for their support throughout the last year.  Ive enjoyed this time immensely.  I also want to give my personal thanks to WB Bob Wallinger for a job well done in his guidance and leadership over year. I think it was an outstanding year.

My Brothers, We are about to turn another page in the history book of Robert Burns Lodge #243 with the installation of the newly elected officers on Saturday December 02, 2006 at 2:00 PM.  Please join in this wonderful ritual. I know that I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you there.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is a time for all of us to give thanks to God for all of the bountiful blessings that have been bestowed upon us over the last year. It is a time for every one of us to be thankful that we live in such a great country that affords us the freedoms and liberties that we take for granted each and every day and it is time for us to be thankful for the strength and support that we receive from this fraternity.

From my family to yours I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Fraternally,

Bro. Steven Wandel
